EOD L3 Course

Introduction:

  • The training course is designed to professionally instruct trainee’s male & female candidates to the required knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to perform the duties and tasks during EOD operations of an IMAS Level 3 EOD Operator.
  • We will provide an internationally recognised certificate, which is compliant to IMAS by the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) as satisfying their Level 3 (EOD) qualification requirements in accordance with the International Mine Action Standards (IMAS) Level 3 (EOD) operator and NATO Standards.
  • IMAS EOD Quote: A Level 3 (EOD) qualification is for a de-miner who has had specific EOD training in the disposal by detonation of larger UXO, such as rocket and tank gun ammunition, and artillery ammunition up to 240 mm; this includes HEAT charges. Under the supervision and direction of a qualified supervisor, a Level 3 (EOD) de-miner should be qualified to render safe UXO for safe removal from the de-mining worksite, and to undertake their final destruction.

Aim:

  • To train individuals with the technical skills & knowledge required to be a qualified EOD 3 Operator, which will enable them to carry out the correct procedures & operations in support of mine action programmes in accordance with IMAS and individuals will be able to demonstrate a complete understanding of the following illustrative topics:

Illustrative Topics:

The 4-week syllabus includes:

  1. Land Service Ammunition (LSA), landmines and booby traps
  2. Explosive theory & practical
  3. Air dropped weapons & guided missiles
  4. Storage & transportation of explosives
  5. Demolitions & management of demolition sites
  6. Battle Area Clearance (BAC)
  7. Threat assessment & survey & planning
  8. EOD task management, clearance techniques and reconnaissance
  9. Information Management System Mine Action (IMSMA) & reporting for EOD tasks                                 


Target Audience:                                                   

This course is designed for individuals seeking higher IMAS Level 3 EOD qualifications for employment in the mine action industry or those who wish to further enhance their knowledge and skills base from either ex military qualified personnel or those from International Non Government Organisations and Commercial Companies to IMAS, up to IMAS Level 3 EOD.

Number of Attendees: Maximum 20

Skills Prerequisites: Demonstrated relevant prior learning to a minimum IMAS Level 2 EOD qualification, required to be IT literate, fit & healthy & fluent in spoken & literate in the written English language.

Method: The course will cover both classroom theory & live practical training incorporating realistic task assessments and mine action IMAS Level 3 EOD training exercises.

Duration: 4 weeks

Location: The joint British & Kenyan Army “International Mine Action Training Centre” facility, Embakasi Garrison, Nairobi, Kenya

Dates: The courses for 2010 as below:

i.    29th March - 23rd April 2010
ii.   28th June - 23rd July 2010
iii.  6th September - 1st October 2010
