FTA / EOD L2 Course
Introduction:

  • The training course is designed to professionally prepare male & female candidates for further employment in the “Field Technical Advisors” role & to continue their career in mine action.
  • In addition, those wishing to seek a “new career” in the mine action industry. We will provide an internationally recognised certificate, which is compliant to IMAS by the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) as satisfying their FTA training requirements in accordance with the International Mine Action Standards (IMAS) Level 2 Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Operator.

Aim:

  • To train individuals with the technical skills & knowledge required to be a FTA, which will enable them to carry out the correct procedures & operations in support of mine action programmes in accordance with IMAS.

Illustrative Topics:

The 4-week syllabus includes:

  1. Introduction & history of humanitarian mine action
  2. Humanitarian mine action standards
  3. Landmines & manual de-mining
  4. Technical survey & clearance
  5. Demolitions & the use of explosives explosive accessories
  6. Minefield management
  7. UXO recognition
  8. Community liaison and mine risk education
  9. Information Management System Mine Action (IMSMA) and reporting                           

Target Audience:

This course is designed for individuals seeking employment in the mine action industry or those who wish to further enhance their knowledge and skills base

Number of Attendees: Maximum 20
Skills Prerequisites: Entry level course, but required to be IT literate, fit & healthy & fluent in English language.
Method: The course will cover both classroom theory & live practical training incorporating realistic mine action FTA training exercises
Duration: 4 weeks
Location: The joint British & Kenyan Army “International Mine Action Training   Centre” facility, Embakasi Garrison, Nairobi, Kenya

Dates: The courses for 2010 as below:

  1. 1st March - 26th Macrh 2010
  2. 31st May - 25th June 2010
  3. 9th August - 3rd September 2010
